Size of owl = H9cm x W4cm x D5cm approx. The size and shape of the parasite wood varies and will be different to the two examples pictured. Overall height approx 15 -20cm

These lovely owl carvings are all unique due to the parasite wood used to mount them on. The owls are made in a beautiful two-tone wood that is left unstained to preserve the grain. The 'Parasite' wood forms in 'flowers' within the wood and is caused by a fungus in the wood. Don't worry there are no nasty bugs involved at all!! Due to the parasite wood being different for each carving the item you receive will not be identical to that shown but will be equally beautiful. The owls are attached to the base with a wooden peg which allows you to change the alignment of each owl as desired. We usually ship this item with the owls unattached for safety in transit. They are very easily attached to the base with a wooden peg that will already be attached to either the owl or the base. There will be a hole in the other piece to join the two together. Simply push the peg into the hole carefully but firmly.

Part of the appeal of this carving is it's handmade nature. It is crafted using a natural product using hand tools in the traditional way.
